Faculty of Education Sciences and Psychology
The Faculty of Education Sciences has a rich history that dates back many years before the creation of the University itself. Its origins in the province of Cordoba are precisely documented, dating from the course 1842-43, when the Law of Primary Instruction of 1838 led to the creation of Normal School of Cordoba. This faculty has experienced significant growth, especially since its recognition as university studies as established by the General Education Act of 1970. Subsequently, during the period from 1993 to 1995, it was transformed into the current Faculty of Education Sciences.
In terms of internationalisation, generic and specific programmes are being implemented, such as the strengthening of the Erasmus and Seneca programmes, as well as the creation of internship projects in the Sahara or in Birmingham. These programmes offer students the opportunity to have en educational experience abroad, promoting cultural exchange and learning in diverse environments. In addition, the Faculty of Education Sciences of the University of Cordoba stands out for its commitment to the environment, being the only faculty of education in Spain to hold the Certificate in Environmental Management. This achievement demonstrates its concern for sustainability and its contribution to the protection of the environment.
In terms of its educational offer, the Faculty of Education Sciences at the University of Cordoba provides a variety of degrees that prepare students for a career in the field of education. These degrees include:
Degree in Early Childhood Education: This programme focuses on the training of professionals specialised in the education of children from 0 to 6 years of age. Students acquire theoretical and practical knowledge to plan, implement and evaluate educational activities adapted to the needs of children at this crucial stage of their development.
Degree in Primary Education: This degree is designed to train teachers to teach children from 6 to 12 years of age. Students adquire pedagogical abilities, disciplinary knowledge and transversal competences necessary to plan, develop and evaluate meaningful learning experiences in the different curricular areas.
Degree in Social Education: This programme focuses on training professionals who work in socio-educational contexts, approaching social intervention from an educational perspective. Students acquire knowledge in areas such as social psychology, social pedagogy, sociology and community work, developing skills to promote social inclusion, citizen participation and community development.
Degree in Psychology: this programme is among the most demanded and recognised in the area of social and health sciences. The degree in Psychology provides students a profound comprehension of human mind and behavior, as well as the required abilities to evaluate, diagnose and intervene in different psychological contexts. Through a balanced combination of theory and practice, students acquire knowledge in fundamental areas such as developmental psychology, clinical psychology, social psychology, neuropsychology and many other specialised fields.
Double Degree in English Studies + Primary Education: This route aims to prepare students for teaching in both Primary and Secondary Education, providing the necessary skills to teach the English language. In addition, it also focuses on aspects related to cultural management, editorial work and other areas of interest. It provides students with a comprehensive education that combines a thorough knowledge of the English language, its literature and culture, with the necessary preparation to become English teachers at primary and secondary levels, as well as in other related fields.

Master in Environmental Education: This master’s degree provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to address environmental challenges from an educational perspective. It focuses on training professionals capable of designing and developing environmental education programmes, promoting awareness and action for sustainability in different educational and social spheres.
Master’s Degree in Inclusive Education (Idep): This master’s degree focuses on training professionals committed to educational and social inclusion. Students acquire knowledge and strategies to cater for the diversity of students in educational contexts, promoting equal opportunities, participation and academic success for all students, regardless of their specific characteristics or needs.
Master’s Degree in Psychology applied to Education and Social Welfare: This master’s degree provides advanced training in psychology applied to education and social welfare intervention. Students acquire theoretical knowledge and practical skills to assess, diagnose and intervene in different educational and social contexts, contributing to the integral development of people and the promotion of their psychological and social well-being.
Master’s Degree in General Health Psychology: This Master’s Degree is aimed at graduates in Psychology who wish to obtain the qualification of General Health Psychologist. The programme provides specialised training in the field of clinical and health psychology, enabling students to assess, diagnose and intervene in psychological disorders and problems, both in clinical and health contexts.
Master’s Degree in Supervision, Evaluation and Management of Educational Centres and Programmes: This master’s degree focuses on the training of professionals specialised in the supervision, evaluation and management of educational centres and programmes. Students acquire knowledge and skills to lead and manage educational institutions, promoting the improvement of educational quality, pedagogical innovation and the development of teaching and administrative staff.
