Faculty of Law, Economics and Business
The Faculty of Law, Economics and Business of Cordoba is a place of great historical and academic relevance in this beautiful city in the south of Spain. Since its foundation, it has been an educational and cultural reference for students and professionals in the fields of law, economics and business. With an emblematic building and a rich history, this faculty has left an indelible mark on the fabric of Cordoba.
In the academic year 1971/1972, a University College of Law was established in the city of Cordoba under the supervision of the University of Seville. This school allowed students to study the first three years of the degree, but to complete the last two years of the degree it was necessary to move to Seville. However, from 1976/1977 onwards, the option to continue studying law in Cordoba was offered.
It was in 1980, thanks to the demands of Cordoba society, that the Faculty of Law of the University of Cordoba was finally founded. In 1983, it moved to its current location in the Convent of Carmen in the Plaza Puerta Nueva, where its 17th century cloister, listed as an Asset of Cultural Interest, stands out. At that time, the old Hospital del Cardenal Salazar, which until then had housed classrooms and spaces shared with the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters, was vacated. In 1994, an extension of the Faculty was inaugurated with new classrooms, offices and an octagonal annex building.
From the academic year 2002/2003, the Faculty also began to offer Bachelor’s degrees in Business Administration and Management (in Spanish, ADE), becoming the main educational and research centre for business in the province. At the same time, a joint pathway was established so that students could simultaneously study Law and ADE. This led to the centre changing its name and adopting its current name as the Faculty of Law, Economics and Business. As a result of the educational reform process known as the “Bologna Process”, from the academic year 2009/2010, the Bachelor’s Degree in Law, Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Management and Double Degree in Law and Business Administration and Management began to be offered, replacing the old Bachelor’s Degrees.
In terms of degrees studied at the Faculty, a wide range of high quality academic programmes are offered. The current academic offer is the following:
In addition, the Faculty encourages the mobility of its students, offering them the opportunity to complete part of their studies in other Spanish and European universities or in other countries such as the United States, Canada, Mexico, Japan, Korea or Chile. To this end, it administers national and international exchange programmes that enable the exchange of students, teachers and administrative staff with more than 200 universities and educational centres around the world. In the framework of the Erasmus+ programme alone, during the 2014/2015 academic year, the Faculty of Law, Economics and Business Administration received 110 foreign students and sent 118 of its students to foreign universities for studies or internships.
In short, the Faculty of Law, Economics and Business Studies of the University of Cordoba has established itself as a prestigious academic institution, committed to training skilled professionals in the legal and business fields, and promoting internationalisation and educational excellence.
